Man, 82, shot while taking out trash in South Shore

CHICAGO — An 82-year-old man was shot while taking out the trash in South Shore on Friday, police said.

The man was taking out his garbage in the 7000 block of South Cornell Avenue about 5:30 p.m. Friday when he heard gunfire and realized he’d been shot in his upper right arm, according to the Chicago Police Department.

The man was taken to University of Chicago Hospital, where his condition had stabilized.
