Rivers in flood across northern Illinois

Over three inches rain fell last night just north of Rockford – greatest total reported was 3.38-inches in South Beloit. Just over three inches (3.02-inches) fell at Roscoe and Woodstock. Between 1 and three-inches was recorded in counties along and north of Interstate-80.

Segments of the Pecatonica, Rock and Fox were already in flood, and the additional rains will cause greater rises and extended flood for those rivers with the significant runoff also forcing sections of the Des Plaines River into flood later today.

Moderate flooding is forecast for Algonquin on the Fox River, Shirland on the Pecatonica River, and Rockton, Latham Park and Byron on the Rock River. Segments of these rivers under flood warnings are depicted in light green on the headlined map.

Following are the latest stages and flood forecasts for Chicago-area rivers issued by the Chicago National Weather Service Forecast Office as well as a list of rainfall reports assembles by the Chicago Forecast Office.
