Gas prices are nearing their peak price in four years.

The national average price of unleaded gasoline is $2.90 a gallon, according to the Oil Price Information Service.

If the fuel price increases by another eight cents, it will be at the highest rate since 2014.

Though gas prices increased by six cents over the last month, they are expected to slow after the summer driving season ends.
