Man, 64, killed in hit-and-run on NW Side

CHICAGO -- Investigators are searching for the driver in a deadly hit-and-run on the city's Northwest Side.

The incident happened around 10 p.m. Sunday near Fullerton and Laramie in the Cragin neighborhood.

The man was crossing the street when he was hit by a white Ford Edge SUV going eastbound.

The driver continued driving and was last seen heading north on Laramie.

No one is in custody.

The victim's identity is identified as 64-year-old Alberto Zavala.

Neighbors described him as a kind man who was always willing to help people.

He also was the owner of a local flower shop.
