WHEATON, Ill. — A former suburban Chicago high school teacher and coach has pleaded guilty to felony criminal sexual assault of a student at the school and sentenced to eight years in state prison.

In a news release, the DuPage County State’s Attorney’s office says that 28-year-old Jared Wissmiller of Downers Grove was sentenced Wednesday.

Wissmiller was arrested after an investigation revealed that he’d engaged in sexual contact with the minor girl for four months in 2016 when he was a teacher and coach at Lake Park High School in Roselle.

Under the law, Wissmiller must serve 85 percent of his 8-year sentence before he is eligible for parole and when he’s released he will be required to register as a sex offender for the rest of his life.
