CHICAGO — A longtime contributor to channel 11's "Chicago Tonight" was critically injured in an accident.
WTTW says 76-year-old Elizabeth Brackett crashed her bicycle Tuesday morning.
Details of the crash were not released, but the station says Brackett fractured two vertebrae in her neck.
She is currently in a coma.
WGN would like to pass along well wishes to Brackett, her family and the "Chicago Tonight" team.

The family of Elizabeth Brackett is grateful for the outpouring of love and support shown by all of Chicago since her accident Wednesday. The family wishes to acknowledge the efforts of the Chicago Police and Fire Departments and Elizabeth’s family at WTTW for their support at this difficult time. The family is immensely grateful for the heroic efforts of the good Samaritan who initially found Elizabeth and the police officer who administered CPR on the scene as well as the doctors, nurses and staff at Stroger Hospital who are caring for Elizabeth. At this time, the family is requesting privacy.
