Cook County hospitals lost $165M due to widespread errors

CHICAGO -- Lax procedures and employee errors have cost the Cook County hospital system more than $165-million.

That's according to an Inspector General report, which found billing oversights and mistakes over the last three years led to the loss in potential revenue.

The IG report says clerks and billers who are unqualified to do their jobs are to blame.
