BATH TOWNSHIP, Mich. – A police department in Michigan is trying to connect with their younger residents by changing the text on their patrol cars from “police” to “popo.”
The Bath Township Police Department posted a photo of one their squad cars with the new text on the side.
The department said they’re struggling to connect to the “young folk” out there, so they decided to update their patrol car graphics in an attempt to relate to the “local youths.”
In a Facebook comment, police said they made the graphics on MS Paint.
They clarified further in the comments (for those that did not understand the joke) and reassured residents that they did not spend any taxpayer money. Their actual cars still say “police” on the side.
“Popo” is slang used to refer to the police.
