Blackhawks slip one spot, land 8th overall pick in 2018 draft

TORONTO – The Blackhawks had the seventh best chance of nabbing the top pick in the 2018 draft.

No such luck. They slid back one spot and will now pick eighth. The Hawks have drafted eighth overall three times in franchise history. Most notably, in 1988, when they took Jeremy Roenick. The two other selections in the eight-hole were Mark Bell from the Ottawa 67’s of the Ontario Hockey League in 1998 and Jimmy Waite in 1987.

Next up, the NHL Combine in Buffalo from May 27th to June 2nd. The draft follows a few weeks later in Dallas on June 22nd and 23rd.
