No way to sugar coat it, this weekend is going to be awful.

It will start with rain and thunderstorms. Hail is also possible.

Over an inch is expected in many places in the Chicago area.

Then on Saturday, strong winds blow in cooler air.

Wind Advisory  has been issued with  east to northeast winds 25 to 35 miles per hour with possible gusts to 50 is in effect between 7 a.m. and 7 p.m.

These strong winds will cause 10 to 16-foot waves to develop resulting in elevated lake levels and flooding of susceptible areas with a Lakeshore Flood Advisory in effect Saturday/Saturday night into Sunday morning for areas adjacent to the Illinois Lake Michigan shoreline.

Then on Sunday, things will start out with a rain and snow mix.

Rain will mix with and possibly change to wet snow Sunday night. No accumulation is expected but temps will struggle to reach 40 degrees on Sunday.
