Cold Chicago weekend, but there’s plenty to do

The cold weather is putting the brakes on a lot of plans this weekend. But there are some options to squeeze in a little fun despite the cold temps.


You’ll find every variety of superhero, mutant, villan and ninja. The giant comic fest runs through Sunday at McCormick Place.  Tickets run $40 for adults, $10 for kids.

14th Annual Chi Town Blues Festival

Saturday is the 14th Annual Chi Town Blues Festival at Arie Crown Theatre. Tickets run between $59 and $99


Those willing to bundle up can check out Navy Pier’s latest outdoor art installation,  Prismatica. Made up of of 25 pivoting prisms, each well over 6 feet tall, the display is brilliant at night, transforming  the park out in front of Navy Pier into a giant illuminated kaleidoscope. It’s free to the public and runs through April 15th.

Bacon Fest

Chicago’s best chefs whipping up their best bacon inspired dishes at UIC. Over 140 restaurants will be handing out samples of their fare at bacon fest. Tickets run $60, with a good chunk of the proceeds going to the Greater Chicago Food Depository.

Cascade Drive Inn

You can  kick it old school at cascade drive in in West Chicago.  It’s $10 for adults, $5 bucks for kids and under 4 is free.
