CHICAGO — A wind advisory is in effect Saturday for the entire Chicago area (brown-shaded area on the highlighted map) calling for southerly winds gusting 45 to 50 miles per hour Saturday morning shifting to the northwest by afternoon. East-west-traveling high profile vehicles such as trucks and vans will be most susceptible to these winds this morning, and north-south-traveling vehicles this afternoon.

As deepening low pressure moves out of southern Minnesota across northern Wisconsin into the Canadian province of Ontario today, the pressure gradient will tighten across our area forcing winds to strengthen out of the south this morning, shifting to the northwest this afternoon, as a cold front sweeps through from the west. Winds will diminish later this afternoon/evening, as the low pressure and associated cold front pull away to the east.
