CHICAGO — WGN’s Teacher of the Month for March steps out of the traditional classroom to connect students with job opportunities across the city.

She’s determined to get them work-force ready.

Sharon Bojan teaches at Southside Occupational Academy, a public vocational training center that partners with businesses around the city, from hotels to hospitals. The program is designed to help students develop job skills and ultimately find employment.

“One thing that we focus on is their ability, not their disability or their 'cans' not their 'can nots,'” she said. “A lot of my students like to focus on what they can do to help their community or what they can do to help their families.”
