CHICAGO — Hundreds gathered in Chicago's West Loop on Saturday for a free Easter egg hunt hosted by Soul City Church.

The event, in its eighth year, connects city kids with free candy stashed in 55,000 colorful eggs.

"What's so cool is that the community really wants to be a part of it, and so they donate the eggs and they donate the candy," pastor Jeanne Stevens said. "The weeks leading up to our party, everyone gets to packing. Everyone gets to bring eggs to the church."

There are three separate egg hunts — at 10:15 a.m., 11:15 a.m. and 12:15 p.m. The Easter Bunny comes along.
