Cop killer to be sentenced today

CHICAGO — Friday is sentencing day for a convicted cop killer.

Brandon Jackson, of Bellwood, was found guilty in January, of murdering a Cook County sheriff’s officer.

Cuauhtemoc Estrada was gunned down outside a Christmas party in 2013 while defending his daughter and her boyfriend from a robber.

Hundreds of law enforcement officials attended Estrada’s funeral procession outside Holy Name Cathedral.

Estrada was a marine corps veteran, and a 20-year veteran of the sheriff’s office.
