Newly released numbers show 6,000 American pedestrians were hit and killed last year.

The numbers come from the Governors Highway Safety Administration, and they’re comparable to the numbers from the previous year.

Three-fourths of those fatal accidents happen at night.

Contributing factors include cellphone distraction, marijuana use by both pedestrians and drivers, and poor headlights.
