BELLWOOD, Ill. -- A shooting outside a nightclub in the west suburbs is now being treated as a homicide after one man died.

The shooting happened just after 1 a.m. Monday at Avenue23 Bar, located at 2305 St Charles Rd., in Bellwood.

Police say it started with a fight inside the bar that led to several people being kicked out.

Bellwood's Mayor Andre Harvey told WGN some of the men took off in their cars, then came back with weapons.

Someone opened fire, injuring three people.

Two of the victims are from Chicago.   One suffered a graze wound, the other was shot in the leg.

The third victim was from Maywood.  He was shot multiple times in the chest and died later at Loyola Medical Center.

"This is the first shooting in Bellwood in 2018 and I'm heartbroken about it," said Mayor Harvey.  "I have been a Bellwood resident since 1969 and worked for the village for 30 years as mayor, I really care about the community and we're trying very hard for these incidents not to happen."

The mayor said the nightclub, Avenue 23,  has been around about two years and has had its share of police calls.

Police are still looking for the shooter or shooters responsible.
