2 killed in Dixon pipeline explosion

NACHUSA, Ill. -- Two people were killed in a pipeline explosion near Dixon, Ill., on Tuesday. Two other were injured.

According to local reports, the massive fire was burning east of Dixon near Nachusa Road and Illinois Route 38.

Farm workers were trying to pull a stuck trailer when they accidentally ruptured the pipeline, sparking the explosion.

The Illinois State Fire Marshal's Office sent investigators to the scene.

The names of the victims have not yet been released.

According to WQAD News 8, a witness described seeing black smoke and flames that were shooting about 150 feet into the air.
