CLARENDON HILLS, Ill. — A 34-year-old Oak Brook woman was struck and killed by a BNSF Metra train Thursday morning.

It happened just before 8 a.m. at the Prospect Street crossing in Clarendon Hills.

Police say video shows the woman trying to cross the tracks while the gates were down when she was struck by an eastbound train. The victim’s identity has not yet been released.

Service on the BNSF line was halted for a short period while police investigated the incident. Regular service has since resumed.

“We ask that everyone keep the family of the deceased in their thoughts and keep in mind the importance of pedestrian safety at rail crossings,” Clarendon Hills police said in a statement.
