5 dead, 22 injured in Labor Day weekend violence

CHICAGO – Five people are dead and 22 are wounded in shootings so far this Labor Day weekend.

The latest happened Sunday night in the 5900 block of West Belden Street.

Two men were standing on the sidewalk just before 11 p.m. when a gunman walked up to them and opened fire.

Felipe Batista, 26, died at the scene.

The other victim was taken to the hospital and is in critical condition.
