CHICAGO — Cook County is about to get hit with higher property taxes.

The average property tax bill in Chicago will go up about 10 percent. That’s because of tax hikes from city hall and Chicago Public Schools.

In suburban cook county, tax increases will range from about 4 to 6.5 percent.

The next installment of property tax bills will be mailed out this month.
