2 teens shot by female suspect after altercation at beach

CHICAGO -- Two teens were shot at 31st Street Beach Sunday evening, according to the Chicago Police.

Jayland Mosby has been identified as one of the 16-year-old boys shot. Mosby was shot in the neck, stomach and ankle. Another 16-year-old boy was shot in the leg.

Reports suggest that the boys got into an altercation at the beach. Mosby's father said the shooter is a female.

Witnesses said they heard a commotion, then saw people dropping to the sand to avoid gunshots.

Police believe the boys did not know the suspect and continue to investigate.

Both boys were transported to Northwestern Hospital. The boy shot in the leg has been released,but Mosby is reportedly still in serious condition.  He underwent surgery and is on a ventilator. His father says he is responding to doctors.
