Update: Strong thunderstorms moving across southern portions of the area into Benton/Newton Counties in Indiana

Update 8:15AM CDT…

Scattered showers and a few thunderstorms continue to move east-northeast across the Chicago area this morning. As of 8AM CDT strongest storms were tracking across southernmost portions of the area into the Indiana Counties of Newton and Benton. Hail of up to 3/4-inch diameter could occur in the stronger storms.

Update 7:30AM CDT…

Scattered showers and a few thunderstorms continue to move east-northeast across the Chicago area this morning.Strong thunderstorms with potentially nickel-sized hail will occur in Kankakee, Ford and Iroquois Counties intil 8AM CDT. There have been several reports of pea-sized to 3/4-inch hail this morning since about 5AM CDT.

Strong thunderstorms carrying winds gusting to 40 miles per hour and nickel-sized hail will move northeast across portions of LaSalle and Grundy Counties between 5:15 and 6AM CDT this Monday morning.
