1 dead, 5 wounded in shooting on West Side

CHICAGO – Emergency crews and police are responding to the scene of a multiple shooting on the city’s West Side.

Police say five people were shot just before 2 p.m. in the 5600 block of West Lake St in the South Austin neighborhood.

One victim was taken to the hospital and pronounced dead.  He has not been identified but is believed to be between the ages of 17 and 19.

Additionally,  a 17-year-old was shot in the leg, a 24-year-old was shot in the thigh, a 30-year-old was shot in the foot, a 32-year-old was shot in the thigh and a 46-year-old was shot in the buttocks.  All the victims are male.

The circumstances surrounding the shooting are not yet known.
