CHICAGO — The Chicago Police Department will announce today that 131 officers will begin detective training this week.

Another 135 officers began their training last month.

The detective promotions are part of the city’s plan to put 1,000 new officers on the street by the end of next year.

Detective training takes about two months; the next graduation ceremony is March 15.
