Amtrak police officer shoots man near Chicago’s Union Station

CHICAGO, Ill. -- An Amtrak police officer shot and seriously wounded a man near Union Station in Chicago.

The Chicago Police Department says the man is an apparent drug suspect.

Authorities say cash and narcotics were found on the 25 year-old man.

The shooting happened around 8:45pm on Wednesday. The man was hit in the left shoulder and is recovering at Stroger Hospital.

The officer wasn't injured.

The shooting is under investigation.
