BARTLETT, Ill. -- An hours long barricade situation in the North Suburbs has ended. Police confirm the male subject is dead from a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
The armed subject barricaded themselves in a Bartlett home Tuesday morning.
A female resident suffered a non-life threatening gunshot wound before reporting the incident to a neighbor.
Police said they responded to the home where she was shot around 11:20 a.m. After the standoff began with police, the nearby Sycamore Trails Elementary School was placed on lockdown as a precaution, and nearby residents received "CodeRed" telephone notifications advising them to stay indoors.
Police entered the home later and found the male subject dead from a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
No other injuries have been reported at this time.
