CHICAGO — Temperatures are reaching dangerously low levels in Chicago this week.

A Wind Chill Advisory is in effect beginning at 9 p.m. tonight until 10 a.m. Thursday.  Air temps will drop below zero tonight. The Wind Chill Thursday morning will be 15-25 degrees below zero.

Chicago landlords must heat residential buildings to at least 68 degrees during the day and 66 degrees overnight.

Illinois pet owners can face a fine or jail time for leaving pets outside in extreme cold.

The city of Chicago has designated warming centers for those in need to seek shelter. They’re open Monday-Friday from 9 a.m. – 5 p.m. during work weekdays when temperatures dip below 32 degrees.
