MARSEILLES, France — Days after doctors wanted to pull her off life support, a baby in France opened her eyes and proved she was still alive.

Doctors put 1-year-old Marwa in a medically induced coma in September after an aggressive virus attacked her nervous system.

They told her family she would never be able to breathe on her own or wake up, and later due to budget issues, they said they would turn off Marwa's life support.

Her family started a petition to raise money to take the case to court.

But 10 days after doctors threatened to take her off life support, Marwa defied the odds.

She awoke from her coma.

Her father said she is still getting treatment but she is showing progress.
