Cubs release 2017 Spring Training schedule

CHICAGO – For once, Cubs fans don’t have to hurry up and wait ’till next year. They’ve got plenty to look back on from the 2016 season.

But now the rooters of the team know when they will get their first glimpse of the 2017 squad during their training in Mesa, Arizona.

On Monday the Cubs released their 2017 Spring Training schedule as the team once again returns to Sloan Park for their preseason work.

Joe Maddon will have a split-squad opener on Saturday, February 25th as half his squad will be in Mesa to face the Athletics while the other will be in Scottsdale to face the Giants. The first full squad game will be a rematch of the World Series as the Cleveland Indians visit Sloan Park on Sunday, February 26th.

The first of two games against the White Sox is the next day in Mesa with the return game on March 17th in Glendale.

On Saturday, March 25th on Sunday, March 26th the Cubs will have half their squad in Las Vegas to play a pair of games against the Cincinnati Reds at Cashman Field.

The Cubs will face the Astros to end their preseason games in Houston on Thursday, March 30th and Friday, 31st. That first game at Minute Maid Park will begin at 7:10 PM with the Saturday contest starting at 1:10 PM.
