On Friday, three members of the Chicago Fire Department joined WGN Morning News to promote the 2017 Ignite the Spirit Calendar.

Tommy Poreda (Mr. December), Kristin Roberts (Miss April) and P.J. Losacco (Mr. July) joined WGN Morning News to discuss the calendar and were the money raised goes.

Poreda said the calendar was started in 2003 by fellow firemen who were inspired by the events of 911 and wanted to create a way to help local fire fighters and paramedics.

"They wanted to bring a sort of resource that we could give to our own Chicago fireman and paramedics when they fall on hard times," he said. "Whether it's surgery for their families or kids or if they give the ultimate sacrifice and we have to help put their kids through school."

Ignite the Spirit has raised over $1 million dollars helping over 500 families in its 13 years.

You can check out the Ignite the Spirit Calendar Party this Saturday at the Cubby Bear located at 1059 W. Addision from 8 p.m. - 11 p.m. For more information click here.
