DYERSBURG, Tenn. — Seven people were shot at a 2-year-old's birthday party in western Tennessee.

It happened at about 6:30 p.m. Thursday. The mother of the 2-year-old was killed.

A 6-year-old is among the wounded. The child's condition wasn't immediately known.

Witnesses reported hearing shots as at least one car drove through the neighborhood. People in the car were seen flashing guns.

Police were still searching for a suspect or suspects but Dyersburg Mayor John Holden said he thought the shooter and the victims knew each other. Holden said authorities had been called to the same home earlier in the day, but he didn't know the nature of the call.
