CHICAGO — A camera was found in a high school girls bathroom on the city’s Southwest Side.

John Hancock College Preparatory sent a letter home to parents that explained the situation.

The camera, which was found in girls first-floor bathroom, appears not to have transmitted any images, the letter said. All school locker rooms and bathrooms were searched, but no additional cameras were found.

Chicago police have confirmed the discovery of the camera, and are continuing to investigate.

“This is upsetting situation for our students and staff, which is why members of the CPS Crisis Intervention team were at at school today to provide assistance,” the letter said. “Our school will continue supporting students in the days ahead, and will work closely with CPD and the Office of Safety and Security on their investigation.”
