CHICAGO -- A man was shot on northbound Lake Shore Drive just before 2 a.m. Friday.

Chicago police say the driver of a white van was hit, somewhere between Monroe and Randolph.

A resident of a high-rise near Navy Pier saw it and called 911.

The driver was able to pull off the drive, and onto Grand Avenue. That's where officers found him, stopped in traffic.

He was taken in critical condition to Northwestern Memorial Hospital.

The identity of the shooter isn't known. Police are looking for video and witnesses.
