DUPAGE COUNTY, Ill. — A married father of two from Downers Grove is charged in the drug-induced death of an underage exchange student.

DuPage County prosecutors say Francis Emanuele, 36, supplied the drugs to the 15-year-old girl who had been staying in Glen Ellyn but was from Spain.

They also say he had a relationship with the girl.

On May 3, she told her host parents she did not feel well and stayed home from school. That evening, she was found unresponsive and not breathing in her bedroom, and later was pronounced dead.

Police found a syringe and a prescription bottle containing methadone among her possessions as well as sexually explicit texts.

Police linked the prescription bottle to Emanuele and also found surveillance video from Glenbard South showing Emanuele picking the girl up from school.

Emanuele is being held on $1 million bond and is due back in court Nov. 7.
