NEW PRAGUE, Minn. — A driver who was texting when she struck and killed a man will spend only four days in jail over a two-year span.

Susan Russo, 48, was sentenced Monday for the fatal accident that happened nearly one year ago.

The victim, Joe Tikalsky, 79, of New Prague, Minnesota, was hit as he was walking to his mailbox to get the newspaper.

Tikalsky’s wife says she knows Russo did not intend to kill anyone.

Russo will spend two days in jail on October 28, the anniversary of the accident, and two more days in jail next year at the same time.
