DECATUR, Ill. -- Only one player from Millikin University's football team remained on the field during the national anthem at a recent game.

The rest of the football team stayed in the locker room to honor "liberty and justice for all."

The decision came after several football players kneeled during the national anthem at a football game a few weeks ago, causing a discussion within the school and the football team.

University officials are declining to comment, and say the university will release a statement about its future plans Wednesday.

The football player who stood alone for the anthem, Connor Brewer, says he doesn't wish to speak to the media until he talks to his football team and coach.
