FRANKLIN GROVE, Ill. — A nursing home in Franklin Grove is fighting a $50,000 fine for an equipment failure that state investigators say helped cause a resident’s death.

A state report shows a lift at Franklin Grove Living and Rehabilitation Center was used to transfer a woman from a wheelchair to a bed, and a support loop broke.

The patient fell, breaking her legs.

She died four days later.

The center is cooperating with the state, but Administrator Jessica Rogers says the nursing home doesn’t agree with the findings.
