HARVEY, Ill. – Police are searching for a suspect in the attempted abduction of a suburban woman that could be connected to a kidnapping in Chicago.
A young woman was walking her dog on Friday September 23rd just after 5 a.m. near 157th and Ashland in Harvey. As she approached her porch a man ran from the side of her car.
That man then ran up to her door but the woman was able to lock it. The subject then turned, puts a gun in the waistband of his pants and walked down the street. Police say he got into the front passenger seat of a white minivan that had a distinctive black stripe across the door panels.
Harvey police believe these suspects could be involved in the abduction of a woman that happened two days ago on Wednesday the 28th at 7 p.m. at 81st and Western in Chicago.
In that case, the men were in a green box style van. They held the woman for a day then dropped her off in Harvey at 154th and Center.
Harvey police say they unsuccessfully asked for ransom money and that she was not sexually assaulted.
The man involved in the attempted abduction in Harvey one week ago was wearing a shirt that appears to say “hustle gang’ and has a light colored hat on backwards, with a bandanna on under the hat. He was wearing dark pants.
Chicago police confirmed the abduction that happened two days ago at 81st and Western but did not release additional details saying that incident is still under investigation.
Anyone with any information is asked to call Harvey police at 708-331-2131.
