Mother fatally shot in front of 2 young children in Joliet

JOLIET, Ill. -- A mother was shot and killed in front of her two young children in Joliet.

The shooting happened around 10:30 p.m. Sunday near Washington and Richard Street.

A woman was in a car with her 22-year-old brother and her two children when someone opened fire.

When officers arrived to the scene, the woman was discovered outside of a vehicle unresponsive and bleeding from the head.

She was taken to Presence Saint Joseph Medical Center in Joliet where she was pronounced dead.

The medical examiner has identified the woman as 23-year-old Dinesty Tillman.

Her 4-year-old daughter suffered a graze wound to her knee. Her 3-month old daughter was not hurt.

Her brother was shot above his elbow.

The 22-year-old brother and 4-year-old girl were taken to Presence Saint Joseph Medical Center.

No one is in custody at this time.

Police are classifying this as a homicide investigation.
