Body found burned in Chicago alley identified as 15-year-old boy

CHICAGO – The identity of the body found burned in a West Side alley this weekend has been identified as a teenage boy.

Sources tell WGN News the remains have been identified as 15-year-old Demetrius Griffin Jr.

Griffin Jr. was found in the 5500 block of West Cortez early Saturday morning in the city's South Austin neighborhood.

Crews were on the scene to investigate a garbage fire but when they arrived they found the body.

Chicago police are looking for a man who may have burned himself while setting the body on fire.
