CHICAGO — Entertainer Mario Lopez, who captured hearts as A.C. Slater on “Saved by the Bell,” made a surprise visit to a Chicago restaurant inspired by the hit ’90s show.

Lopez stopped by Saved by the Max on Friday night to surprise fans in Wicker Park. The eatery is based on the show’s diner frequented by Slater and the rest of his high school group.

The actor posted videos and photos on social media of his experience. He said he “had to” stop by the restaurant while he was in town, adding the “[A]ttention to detail is hilarious.”

“Saved by the Bell” was a sitcom that ran from 1989 to 1993. It starred Lopez, Mark-Paul Gosselaar, Dustin Diamond and Tiffani-Amber Thiessen.
