CHICAGO — Chicago police revise their homicide count for 2015, adding eight more murders than previously thought.

That brings the number of homicides last year to 481.

The Chicago Tribune reports there are two possible explanations for the change.

The eight people were injured last year, but died this year or the department didn’t classify the deaths as homicides until this year.
