CHICAGO -- As the holiday weekend approached, many community organizations decided to join forces to at least try and stop some of shooting and killing.

Events are planned in ten of the most violent neighborhoods all weekend long.

Hundreds gathered Friday night at St Sabina Church.

More than 100 donate bikes were handed out.

The gathering was just one that is part of an effort to keep the last weekend of the summer a peaceful one.
