GURNEE, Ill. -- A new roller coaster is coming to Six Flags Great America/Hurricane Harbor in 2017.

The Joker is a 4D free-fly coaster that takes riders up a 12-story, 90 degree hill, sitting in wing vehicles outside of the track with nothing above and below you. As riders move throughout the track, they will flip head over heels at least six times. Two beyond 90-degree "raven drops" give the sensation of free falling.

The ride will be positioned in Yankee Harbor right next to BATMAN: The Ride, stretching from the old Ragin' Cajun space, across the midway and over the space formerly home to the East River Crawler and Jester's Wild Ride. And yes, the covered bridge is going away.

Also, we'd be remiss if we didn't mention that WGN's unofficial roller coaster reporter Marcus Leshock successfully predicted this would be the new ride to come to Great America.

Great America will be having a sale for 2017 season passes over Labor Day weekend. For more on that and the new ride, visit
