CHICAGO — A woman remains hospitalized in serious condition after setting herself on fire inside the office of Congressman Danny Davis.

It happened Tuesday afternoon in Davis’ office near Madison and California.

The Chicago Tribune reports that a 43-year-old woman walked in, drank from a bottle of hand sanitizer, then poured the sanitizer on herself and used a lighter to set herself on fire.

Staff tried to put the fire out, but the woman ran away.

The woman was taken to Stroger Hospital in serious condition with burns and her condition has stabilized.

Congressman Davis did not see it, but said he hopes she’s okay.
