How yoga can help ease back-to-school jitters

As summer ends, nerves and anxiety about going back to school can begin for some students.

So, kids in Connecticut are preparing to transition to the classroom in a unique way: With yoga.

“Buddha Boot Camp” at Inner Child Yoga in Newtown, Conn. is helping children learn mindfulness and meditation through fun games that connect them to their body and breathing.

Owner Barbie Burton is a mother of three and a pediatric occupational therapist.

She says towards the end of class, the kids are empowered.

She hopes the students will be more “present” and tuned-in to others with valuable tools to use throughout school year.
