UNINCORPORATED WHEATON, Ill – Suburban authorities are conducting a death investigation after the body of a baby was discovered in a bag in Unincorporated Wheaton Monday morning.

A landscaper reportedly found the dead newborn in a duffel bag on a private road with six houses, just off Plamondon Road.
Stella, who did not want to share her last name, lives near where the bag was found. This morning around 9 a.m., on the way to work, she says she spotted the duffel bag.

“I drove and I saw the bag around here. I didn’t see anything inside … It was very odd to me to have a bag in the middle of the road,” she said.

Later, Stella says a landscaper found the dead baby and called police. The landscaper, Stella says, showed her a picture of the dead baby.

For hours the roads around the area were shut down while the DuPage County Sheriff used dogs to search the area.

They issued a statement saying:

The DuPage County Sheriff’s Office is requesting assistance with a current investigation of an infant found deceased. Please contact the DuPage County Sheriff’s Office with any information at 630-407-2400.

They did not provide any further information or details at this time.
