Man, 27, fatally shot on West Side; 10-year-old wounded

CHICAGO -- Chicago police say a man was fatally shot Saturday afternoon on the city's West Side.

According to police, the 27-year-old was standing on a sidewalk on the 3800 block of W. Madison in Chicago's East Garfield Park neighborhood around 1 p.m. when someone came up and shot him.

The victim suffered gunshot wounds to the chest and leg. He was transported to Stroger Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

The Chicago Fire Department says a 10-year-old boy was grazed by a bullet in the shooting. He was transported to Stroger Hospital in good condition.

 Detectives are still investigating the crime scene. It is not known at this time if the shooting victim had any gang affiliations.
