CHICAGO — A month-long nationwide crackdown on prostitution hit Chicago especially hard.

The sweep ended last week. In all, 1,300 “johns” were arrested nationally for trying to buy sex.

In Cook County alone, 230 men were busted — the most of any county in the nation. One of the “johns” is just 15 years old.

The sweeps began in 2011, as an effort to discourage men from trying to buy sex. Since then, 5,800 “johns” have been arrested.

In addition to “john” arrests, authorities recovered 32 underage girls lured into human trafficking and made 71 human trafficking arrests.
